Big Blue Defensive Move

According to Newsday

For the last two days, Bulluck has been playing outside linebacker, the same spot he held down for a decade in Tennessee. It's also the spot that Clint Sintim had been penciled into as the starter since the 2009 season ended. Tuesday the two players shared first-team reps.

Suddenly there is competition at the position the Giants call their strong-side linebacker.

"I've never been one to worry about competition," Bulluck said.

Still, it came as a surprise when, on Monday morning, he was asked to move and make his old spot his new spot.

Giants linebacker Keith Bulluck is moving from middle to outside linebacker. Its a surprise move as many thought he was the veteran replacement for Antonio Pierce after they cut him at the end of the season. This puts Jonathan Goff at middle linebacker with Keith Bulluck and Micheal Boley on the outsides. From what I saw in the first two preseason games Jonathan Goff did a pretty serviceable job in the middle while Clint Sintim who was starting on the outside was invisible. Simtim's performance or lack thereof is probably the reason for the move. In other news it looks like Kenny Phillips is ready for more snaps. After playing for the first time since early last season this past weekend look for Phillips to have more than 6 snaps this week. It also looks like tomorrow Eli Manning will be practicing with a helmet for the first time since he got popped and was leaking like that BP pipe in the gulf in the preseason opener against the Jets.
